Board of Directors

Read a case study on Board governance in Nonprofit World by Bill Roy, Virginia Jacko and consultant Doug Eadie.

Miami Lighthouse Board of Directors is comprised of a diverse and dynamic group of volunteers, who provide leadership and support to ensure the vitality of the organization.

The Miami Lighthouse Board adopted a contemporary high-impact governance model in early 2007 which channels the energy and talents of board members in three areas of governance: monitoring, planning, and external relations. Further, it facilitates a close, enduring, and truly effective Board-CEO partnership which has a significant impact in organizational affairs.

William R. Roy, PH.D.
Chairman of the Board

Bill Roy is Partner and Director of Research and Marketing Strategy at Kelley Swofford Roy. Formerly, he was Vice President of Worldwide Passenger Marketing for Pan American World Airways, Chief Marketing Officer at Pacific Southwest Airlines, and a management consultant with Booz, Allen & Hamilton and the University of Michigan. He holds B.A., M.B.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Marketing, Consumer Psychology and International Economics.

Dr. Roy became familiar with the mission of Miami Lighthouse through his wife, Susan Kelley, who served as President of the Board in 1996-1998. He is a Trustee of the World Trade Center, a member of the American Marketing Association and the World Future Society, and serves on the Board of the Miami Symphony Orchestra.
